Break from the Heat as Summer Fishing Continues
(Click for full report)
Wednesday, February 11
A beautiful day here in South Jersey today, with today's air temp. nearing 70° obliterating the 49 year old Atlantic City Airport record.
For those that hoped this past weekend's nice weather would help the fishing, all it did was melt the snow and ice and drive the tog further into hibernation.
If we can avoid any heavy snowfalls over the next couple of weeks, we should start to see a beginning to the inshore bottom fishing in early March.
Stay tuned.
Thanks to everyone that came out to the Boat Show this weekend.
Enjoyed seeing lots of familiar faces and meeting some new ones.
Special thanks to the boy that sat in on my seminar and drew me a beautiful picture depicting a fisherman in a boat catching a fish.
Truly appreciated.
The show was well attended, and most vendors said the show exceeded their expectations.
Perhaps with fuel prices at a tolerable level, people are finally starting to get some money back in their pockets.
It was better news than I hoped to hear, and certainly welcome.
For those wondering about 2009 fluke regulations, they will be decided the first week of March.
We are looking at either about a week's cut in the duration of the season, or a size increase of ½".

Tuesday, February 3
Well, anyone that thought the warm weather over the weekend might give us a shot at doing some inshore bottom fishing soon, 2"-4" of snow here today followed by a couple of days of temps that will struggle to break freezing will dampen those thoughts.
Temps look to rebound into next week, however, and I might try to get in a trip or two over President's Day weekend, we'll see what the weather does.
Just another reminder that I will be at the Atlantic City Boat Show on Saturday, February 7th.
From mid-afternoon on, I will be at the Save the Summer Flounder Fishery Fund table.
And at 5 PM, I will be running a tog fishing seminar for The Fisherman Magazine.
Stop by and say hi.
